This city is a memory

Dear Wellington,

Born here in St. Helens, daughter of two former Victoria University students who met here in their first year of study at the Central Baptist Youth Hostel on Boulcott. I know I am home here, every time I come down the gorge and the harbour rises up into view. Now I work in the Majestic Centre, overlooking the carpark which replaced the old youth hostel. I look down and see the moment my parents met for the first time. This city is a memory.

I love the people!

I'm here a couple of days now and it's amazing! The harbour is very beautiful and I really love a lot of other places. But I especially love the people here!

I'm glad I have the opportunity to stay here for 4 months! It's amazing

6 months before it sank

Great to come back to Wellington. I traveled here last in Nov 1967. I was on the Wahine mid Nov 1967, 6 months before it sank. Seeing the film today was very moving. Thank you.

Sailing to Wellington

I sailed to Wellington from Auckland on Australia's National Sail Training Ship, the Young Endeavour. With no more than a week's experience, 20 youthies [sic] (aged 18 - 24) managed to successfully navigate and sail the tall sailing ship from Queen Charlotte Sound to Wellington during a 44 hour period.

Hunter is cool (Sixth generation Wellingtonian).
