Perfecting hill-starts
I learnt to drive a manual car in Wellington. You get real good at hill-starts real quick. Some of my friends back home still can't do them properly.
My father used to stop me on a rise just before the railway line in Carterton and make me practice hill starts there. I'd worry each time when I took off that the signal lights were faulty and that a train would be passing at the same time!
Yup, I learned to drive on the Kapiti Coast and lived in Wgtn for ages before I mastered a hill start...
