A New Years Eve rescue
On new years eve my partner jumped off a wharf in the dark to rescue a lady from drowning - he managed to get her to safety and she recovered... he was a bit tired after and keeps resolving to do more swimming and get fitter.
I still remember when, as a child, I attempted to save a friend's sister from going under at the Carterton public pool. She wasn't heavy but kept pushing me under as I tried to pull her to the pool's edge. Eventually I had to let her go - luckily the lifeguard appeared at that moment to save the day. I'm so appreciative to those who have/are able to save others in the water. It's definitely not an easy task!
