We’re asking visitors to write and leave love letters to Wellington in the Te Upoko o te Ika a Māui exhibition at the Museum of Wellington City & Sea. The exhibition features people's stories and passion about the greater Wellington region. One letter per day is selected to add to this blog. We welcome and encourage conversation and feedback to each letter.

Bittersweet
Wellington, and this area brings a mixed, perhaps bittersweet, memories. I met and courted the love of my life here. She was a Wellingtonian, and I, a salty brown tanned/burnt islander. After our studies of 4 years at Vic [university], we parted ways with promises to reunite here at the Museum (Te Papa) while staying in touch via email. On the eve of our reunion, she was working late in Chch [Christchurch], and died in the earthquake that morning.
